WOW, ... This demands re-reading to get it past the thick part of my ordinary brain.!!!!!

OK,

So basically it's too rich if used the injection configuration of methanol/ethanol?
What if he had adjusted the AFR to match an ideal Lambda?

I imagine that methanol has more oxygen content than iso alky.
I imagine that you will need a smaller nozzle for iso alky?

Isopropyl also contains a higher energy content than methanol
There is conflicting info on the internet about the octane of isopropyl.

and what is the stoich of Isopropanol?

Methanol: ......... 6.43
Ethanoi:............ 8.94
Isopropanol: ..... 10.28
Butanol: ........... 11.12
Pantanol: ......... 11.68

Hey richard, I had asked some chemist on Quora.com what the stoic is, the responded 11.4:1

His response:

The combustion of isopropanol is:
C3H8O +9/2 O2 = 6CO2 +8 H2O
Mol weights are 60 for IP
32 for O2
So for each mole of IP burned,60g you need 9/2 of O2 that is 9*32/2=144g
ratio is 60/144 or 1:2.4
air is not 100% O2 is is only 21% so need
2.4/.21= 11.4

No wonder they were shooting flames.

I got the data from here:

Why would any use Isopropanol instead of ethanol or even methanol which are surely a better alcohol ?

Great find Dust ! A must read !

According to this article isopropyl is all way better than methanol.. what about the corrossion ? Is isoprpyl a winner here again ?

Corrosion and rubbing alcohol

http://www.123helpme.com/view.asp?id=85097

According to the article above rubbing alcohol consist of :

Rubbing Alcohol Components

Isopropyl alcohol is a clear, colorless liquid with a somewhat bitter taste and a smell of acetone. Rubbing alcohol contains:

v 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
v Small increments of water
v Methanol,
v Ethanol,
v And/or ethylene glycol.

So rubbing alcohol is not 100% isopropyl but a mix of alcohols !

. Corrosion and Rubbing Alcohol

Because the rubbing alcohol has some amounts of water in it, as well as a ?stripping? component, (used for eliminating germs), I believe that testing the different metals in solutions of alcohol instead of just plain water could actually increase corrosion.

There are also hydrocarbons in the mixture of rubbing alcohol. Hydrocarbons are basically bonds of hydrogen and carbon.
Hydrocarbons can also assist in the progression as well. Just as salt water helps speed the process, a product that has added strength such as the Isopropyl alcohol should aid with the corrosion?s speed in the different types of metals.

This is good one to show the speed of burn with varies concentrations:

Funny but good video....

It would be nice to see Methanol / Ethanol / Isopropyl head to head

The demonstration is excellent how water can change your burnt rate.
But don't forget it have to applied to all the fuels going into the engine.

The only way I'd use Isopropyl is when nothing else is available.
Right now i'm seeing where it can add tiny amounts of octane and help with fuel atomization.
