Hey guys. Just finished turbo setup in my samurai and have a question.

Looking to see if the hfs-5 dds3 v8 aquamist kit can be installed in a TBI vehicle.
If so.....
Where do i get the trigger signal from?

The vehicle is an 87 suzuki samurai w/ 93 geo tracker engine/ecm
Currently running 5psi/boost 93 octane.
Stock geo tracker ecu.

Thanks
Joe

Can you tell me the injector reisitanece. If you can obtain a EVXCU ponoput og the unit, I will help you quicker.

Thanks for the quick reply Richard.

I did find a picture of oem injector driver from a suzuki sidekick which is the same engine and ecm that im running.

Not sure if that helps.
I will get actual results tomorrow afternoon if needed.

Thanks

Ok Richard. I checked and
the injector resistance is 1.7

Everything is installed except for the FIA2 and trigger wire.

So far so good. Just not sure where to get this signal from . I dont want to mess anything up.

Thanks

Just got done wiring the kit.
Everything seems to be working like it should. Just need to adjust gauge and dds3v8.

I installed everything according to the diagram below.
http://www.aquamist.co.uk/forum/gallery/DDS3v8/HFS-5.gif

Engine running at idle = Fuel Injection green LED on. Red LED off
Engine running rev. engine = Water injection Red LED blinks rapidly but no flow or pump activating.

Im thinking it has to do with adj to both controller and gauge?

Thanks

BUMP..... stilll getting no trigger signal.

Anyone else have any ideas before i give up on this system? I really dont
want to go back to my old Vari-Cool setup.

Thanks

I have been away for the last two weeks. just catching up. Sorry.

I had a look on the diagram, very nice and clear. I think the injector is driven by a "peak and hold" driver so the signal is extremely wak during the "hold" period. The "peak" period is good but only around 1mS of so. The DDS3v8 will not be able to detect those signals.

The green wire of the FIA2 should be connected to pin A17.

The HFS-5 consists of a FIA2 module, can you tell me if you can see a purple wire coming out of the FIA2 harness. This wire has an output of 0-5V, representing the 0-100% DC of the fuel injector.

Bofore we go any further, I like ot know if the FIA2 is reading the fuel injector correctly first.

I have another question, is side kick a addon unit to the original ECU. What is its function since the ECU can drive the stock injector anyway.

Ohh I see... Im sure thats where i have it hooked up. I will check tomorrow morning and get back to ya.

The kit i have, has no purple wire coming from the FIA2. Only wires are... 2 red, 2 green, 1 black, 1 blue, 1 brown.

Its just like the one above ^^^^ minus the mbc +mac valve.

Richard

The sidekick/tracker ecu is whats running the tbi engine. The engine was swapped from a geo tracker.

Thanks again for all your help. I will check everything tomorrow and post the results.

Cheers,
Joe

Ok so it looks like its connected to pin A17.

Is there another way of hooking up this kit? Boost pressure switch?

Thanks

I GIVE UP! lol I guess the kit doesnt work well with tbi systems unless you use a hobb switch.

I decided to swap the engine. Im done with TBI.
New setup is
geo tracker 1.6 16v engine
MSII v3.0
and of course the hfs-5 dds3 v8 kit :-)

I believe the way the fuel injection system works is not normal. Most system have a constant +12V on one side of the injector and switch the other side of the injector to ground.

By studying the frawing you sent, it appeared this system switches both. This is possibility the reason for the WI system have issue to read what is going on.

Please keep me updated. By the sound of it, you swap engine as simple as changing spark plugs!

Yes... Thats what i was thinking.
As far as the engine swap goes....the hardest part is wiring the megasquirt to run engine and making another top mount turbo manifold for it. ...... oh and finding the"correct" trigger wire for the aquamist hahaa.
Shouldnt be a problem.

Heres what the new pinout looks like:

Injector driver:

Injectors are 12vdc powered and ecu shoots signal to each injector. horrraaaaaaaayyyyyy

Thanks Richard for all your help
