Here are some pictures of my installed HFS-6 meth kit on my 2007 STi. It took me longer than I thought to get everything installed the way I wanted, but the end result was definitely worth it.

I am very happy with this kit, I gained a considerable amount of power with it and I am pleased that this kit is known for its reliability and quality.

I would like to thank Richard for all of his help in answering all of of my questions and for supplying me with all the extra parts that I needed for my kit.

Here are some pictures, if you have any questions about anything , ask away.

This is a nice install. The gauge sits nicely in the pod. Did you make the FCM bracket?

Tank arrangement is guaranteed from sloshing. Are you running 100% methanol?

Thanks!

Yes the FCM bracket was custom made. I have not had the car out on the road yet so I have not tested out the surge tank set up. However the smaller tank that is laying horizontally seems to be leaking from the cap, so I have to figure out a way to fix that. May try an epoxy for a permanent seal, but open to other options.

Yes I am running 100% meth. Do you think that since the car is sitting during winter that I should flush out the system with some windshield washer fluid so the methanol isn't sitting in there?

I can post the dyno, but the car was tuned on an extremely low reading dyno and my turbo died on me so my numbers are quite low.

If you are runnuign 100% methanol, we have some special fitting for that, let me arrange some for you.

Let me know when you get them in and I can send you my info. Do you still recommend me to flush the system?

And do you have any recommendations as to the best way to seal my tank cap?

- The new swivel fittings are sent, it will have a "M" stamped on the back wall of the body.

- No need to flush the system. Try the new fittings first.

- I suggest venting it to the outside. Flambeau do sell a cap with inbuilt one way valve, perhaps get one of those?

When you are suggesting the vented cap, are you referring to putting it on the main tank that stands vertically? That tank already has a vented cap and I also have a tube running from the tank to under the car to vent.

The smaller tank (the horizontal one) is the tank that I am try to keep from leaking. I put another rubber gasket in the cap to try to see if it will seal better, but time will tell.

I'm leaving epoxy to the last resort. Here is a picture of my full set up to refer to.

We have tested this new fittng since September last year with 100% methanol, no sign of leaking.

You have a nice big garage to work on your car.

Yes, the fitting work great and I have seen no signs of leaking from them. The plastic cap on the otherhand does not want to seal. I have even filled the tank with water and kept it upside down over night, but it didn't leak then...

Thanks working in a heated garage really makes working on the car enjoyable.

Well I had water sitting in the tank and it wasn't leaking and so today I put methanol in the tank and tested it to see where it was leaking from. This time it was definitely leaking and it was coming from one of the swivel fittings that feeds the tank with methanol. I could tell that it wasn't coming through the rubber gaskets, but rather from the top of the swivel fitting near where you insert a hex to tighten the fitting to the tank.

Richard are these the type of fittings that you are sending me? If so I will make sure I replace the leaking one.

The arrow shows where it is leaking from:

Richard, do you happen to remember when you sent out those fittings? thanks

someone on nabisco did the same thing with their kit, and they had to superglue the bottom tank's cap on.

Do you have a vented or non vented cap? There are two types of vented caps:

1) Through a hole in the top
2) Through the threads

Either could be tough to seal. There is also a non-vented cap. My suggestion for sealing the non-vented would be to remove the rubber gasket the cap seals to the top of the tank with, and coat the entire underside of the cap and the outer threads of the tank with epoxy and screw together tight.

The other option is to tank the tank to a plastics place and have them weld a piece of plastic over the hole where the cap screws on. They can do a spark test to make sure it's air and liquid tight. We have a local place(40 miles away, considered local in CA lol) here that can do it. Should only cost $10-$15 or so to do.

Thanks for the help guys.I do have a non vented cap on the tank.

I did figure out the problem though. Richard sent me some new fittings and I replaced the one that was leaking. I tested the tank with the new fitting and held the tank up side down and there were no leaks from the cap or any of the fittings. Now I just hope it stays that way.

Today I went to turn over the car and let it warm up (been sitting in winter storage) and when I went to turn on the aquamist gauge/initiate the kit, the gauge would not light up. The low water (yellow) light does light up, so I know the gauge does have power but when I went to push the button nothing would happen. Does anyone have any idea of why the gauge wont light up or initiate?

The only thing that I can come up with is that there is no methanol in the and because of that it will not allow the kit to turn on.

Also, I have turned on the gauge before, just a few weeks ago, when I had the level sensor and pump disconnected and it did light up.

The system is not turning on because it is sensing a low level in the tank.

Good. That's what I was thinking.

Thanks for letting me know.

Sorry Jsti07.

During the startup routine, if the system detected low tank level, it will not allow the system to switch on, the yellow water level led will be lit on the gauge to warn you.

You can either fill yopu tank up or unplug the blue harness to reset it, but it will only stay on for 20 seconds and go back to sleeping mode.

It is better to fill the tank up.

Is it common for the methanol tubing to turn yellow?

Richard L

This is an interesting quetsion, we have a few people mentioning that. I donlt know the answer why some do and some don't. Pobbibility due to the properties of the plasticizer used in the mix to make the hose softer to handle.

Have you tried the new elbow fittings yet? The one with a "M" stamped on it.

Ya I posted about that earlier. I installed the new fittings and the leaks are now gone! Thanks again for the fittings and getting them sent out so quickly for me.

As for the tubing that it turning yellow, I tried to research it a little bit but no one seems to have the same problem. I may just have to order new tubing.

Attached is a picture of what I am talking about. Notice the tubing running from the pump to the jets is yellow, but the tubing from the smaller tank to the pump is still clear? It looks pretty bad in person lol.

About how many feet of the 6mm tubing is included in the aqumist kits? Just wondering so I know how many feet to order so I can replace this yellow tubing. thanks

We supply 6 meters (18 feet) of 6mm tubing with the kit. You can purchase from www.howertonengineering.com or any pneumatic supplier. OD=6mm and ID=4mm
