Hi John, just like mention, your web site along with this forum have been a great source of info on clet closely related to the zlet and WI.

This is my first experience with WI, the installation is about half way complete.

The 2d set up as with the 1s kit is boost activated, the FIA 2 module interpret the IDC and inject water at a constant ratio to the fuel. Further adjustments can be made by varing the jet size.

I decided to use two independant set ups, so as to have full control over pressure and boost activation for each jet. Ive heard a lot of people say that they have been limited with two jets and one pump.

Any advice is most welcome :smile:

It is certainly unusual to use two systems, mosy people will be put off by the cost.

There is an advantage using two systems, maintaining the water pressure and not tailing off at high duty cycles of the HSV - the system can be made very linear to the VE curve.

I wanted to do something to improve performance, i was thinking about a stainless steel exhaust with sport cat - might yield 15 bhp if i was lucky, at a cost of ?1000. Some one else would have fitted it, job done.

With WI, theres a lot more involvement, with the potential to make some serious power gains.

Thats not to say i wont be replacing the exhaust anytime soon, what with improved performance, got to get the extra gases out :smile:

That poses a question, with lower in cylinder and exhaust temps, are the exhaust gases therefore denser and back pressure reduced ?

There is something to be said about lowering the EGT.

If the EGT is too low, it means that you are not taking the advantage of heat within the cylinder for making power. Power needs heat - you need to run the EGT as close to 900C as possible - for cast pistons.

If your EGT is climbing towards 1000 to 1100C, you will be in danger of a meltdown - But there will be plenty of power available. You should than inject water to control the excess EGT to within 900C or 950C to 980C for Forge pistons. The heat absorbed by the water will increase the effective compression ratio without the excess heat (semi-steam engine).

These are extreme tunes but since you have two pumps and all the controls you need to make this possible. Extra exhaust capacity will help a great deal.

Richard, how can I get a hold of a couple of those jet adapters?. Are they threaded for the jets on in the I.D. What is the threading on the O.D. Does Aquamist make any plugs with the same threading as on the jets. I'm experimenting with jet location and I need to be able to plug the holes on the unused locations.

I'm currently experimenting with smaller nozzles, 0.4mm both before and after the compressor. Maybe the surge issue will be fixed now, we'll see.

My gut feeling at the moment is that Richard's recommendations on water volumes and activation pressures are a bit on the high side.
At least for well-intercooled engines! :wink:

I'd say someone should start with a 0.4mm nozzle at 1 bar, and take it from there.
Stock systems come with 0.5mm minimum and switch preset at 10psi. Too much water for a well intercooled 2 litre engine! Especially in the winter.
