Hello to Everyone,

I am new to the use of water injection in my car. I was a bit concerned
about mixing methanol and water as I read in an industrial brochure that
a 33%methanol to 67% water mixture by volume is the absolute maximum
mixture to keep it non-flammable.

Is a 50%methanol/water mix flammable? Even if it is stored in a plastic washer container in the engine bay, I'dlike to play it safe.

Thanks!

My kitchen chemistry experiance is the same -1/3 -2/3 H2O I cold not get to light.

The typical 1/2 - 1/2 does light but does not burn very well.

In my experience the 'methanol' effect tails off after just 20%, let alone 33% meth/water.
So I don't see much point going beyond 30% anyway.
In practice I've settled down to 15-20% and it works well.

Thanks for the replies. I'll stick with the 25% meth to water ratio. I was just curious why a lot of references are around with regards to the 50/50 mix
