Flow Bars not lighting

My HFS-5 has been installed about a year on a Nissan 300ZXTT and running well. Yesterday, it appears there is now no flow when triggered. System powers up normal with low water light on initially and then blue Sensor and blue W-Injection lights come on.

I use hte IDC to triger the HFS-5 and the blue Boost light will come on but now no Flow Bars light and the unit goes into falesafe mode and Low Water level light comes on.

Any thoughts?

I could not find any trouble shooting in the user manual.

Thanks,
Randy

Re: Flow Bars not lighting

You are referring to a HFS5 instead of a HFS6. There is a difference. Assuming your system is a HFS5. read below.

- First thing to do is to detach the hoses, blow through the sensor and see if you hear whirling sound.
- Next step is to see if the gauge registers any bars.
- The sensor may need cleaning or replaced if the moving parts are worn.

The HFS-5 ceased production in 2008
The HFS-6 ceased production in 2010

Are you sure you installed either of them last year?

Re: Flow Bars not lighting

Too funny....the flow sensor had come off.... I was starting with trouble shooting the pump. Obviously with your advice I saw the problem instantly.

Thanks and sorry to bother you with such an easy problem!!!

Re: Flow Bars not lighting

Richard,

It looks like the HFS-4 is the replacement for my HFS-5. Is there a kit to just replace the newer components?

Thanks,
Randy

Re: Flow Bars not lighting

The HFS3 or HFS4 is completely different from the HFS-5. There are no similar parts between them. You only need the HFS4 as it is mainly for DI engines.

We now have a replacement newer flow sensor to replace the HFS5's flow sensor. The part number is 806-428H. It appears you may not need it as you have found your problem.
