fiberglass tank
hello all,
I was wondering if any of you are using fiberglass tank ? this could be designed to fit the car even better... any downside ? |
Re: fiberglass tank
anyone has any feedback ?
does methanol will behave with fiberglass ? |
Re: fiberglass tank
I wish I have knowledge on this.
I believe fabres are held together with some form of epoxy. Not sure how this compound reacts with methanol long term. Make you life easier, use a plastic tank with a known material. |
Re: fiberglass tank
Thanks,
I'm mounting a red petrol plastic tank (5litre) ATM http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...DSC06671fb.jpg now about metals, I know aluminium is out of question, but is there any other metal that would cope with methanol ? stainless steel ? |
Re: fiberglass tank
Stainless 304, 316 will be good.

Re: fiberglass tank
that's good news :)
I might design my own stainless tank later then the tricky side will be the cap system which foam could be used ? |
Re: fiberglass tank
Hows the in cabin noise of the pump?
I guess you hardly hear it as the exhaust muffles it. |
Re: fiberglass tank
as you said, I don't hear anything cause of the direct exhaust pipe.
I would guess with normal exhaust and back seat fitted, it shouldn't be very noticable. should be about the same as your fuel pump but lower frequency |
