Water injection on an old 6.2?

Is installing water injection on my 82 6.2 worth the study and brain cells? I have used water injection on high compression gas engines but the diesel application is new. I used the vacuum drop of the gas engine to operate the injection. Since the diesel inherantly has no vacuum, how is this done?

I appreciate any advice.

You will have to use a fogging nozzle and pump. From what I?ve read you want to stay around 10% to 15% of fuel rate and have enough pressure to stay above the boost levels (pump 60 to 100 psi). Here is a couple of sites that have some info on working it with a diesel.

I've heard of some pretty impressive results from more than just one person.

Your 6.2 in naturally aspirated isn't it? No turbo or intercooler?

If so, this may get a little tricky. It can still work, but you will need to use a small injector, and a throttle switch (set at 75% or higher) to activate the system.

Do you have an EGT gauge on your truck? That will assist you with your tuning, and show the results of the system a little better.
