Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet (non conclusive:aq)

I had massive knock on cylinder 4 of my direct port setup yesterday..
My WL is set one click anticlockwise from false triggering, or one click clockwise and it activates failsafe.
So how come it didn't catch this?
I have followed the instructions regarding flowing the jets out of the engine and setting up the 6 bars on gauge with manual test. At 30psi boost this could have killed that cylinder... My knock sensor saved it i think.
My thres is set quite low to activate at around 10psi boost.
Any tips welcome.
Cylinder 4 knock.

need more details:
1. car model
2. dp jet sizes
3. charge pip jet size
4. fsdl setting

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

Hi Richard.

1. Engine is a ford lima 2.3L Turbo.
2. Dp jets are 0.5
3. Charge pipe is a 0.7
4 FSDL is straight up at factory setting.

The hex key on the pump got a 1/2 turn clockwise too.
And the gain has been increased to a max of 1 o'clock.

Thanks

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

I'm trying to get a grip on how the failsafe actually works too.. Since the mishap I got logging asap, I see with a gauge setup with a scale 0-100 the logs are pretty much inline with the Injector duty.. Does the fail safe monitor a percentage of error on either direction and then trigger a failsafe if outside that percentage? Ie- Idc is 70.. Hfs3 goes either beyond 65 or 75 its failsafes? This gets changed in relation to gain setting though...
Or does it just work with an overall min/max flow? That would mean at high ID the flow would have to fall below where it starts in order to failsafe? Over a wide operating bracket that could be quite a bit and maybe not catch a smaller malfunctioning jet in a multi jet setup..
School me please... Thank you.

Sorry for bombarding you with the Qs Richard.
I see the datalog of my WMI pegs at 75% but the Injector duty keeps rising at the very top end.
That's about 4v from basic calcs, that's normal I presume?
I'm hitting the dyno day after tomorrow.

can yu tell me some history of your aquamist system. Is it is new system and what is the serial number of the controller.

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

I have a few questions for you,

1. Are you 100% sure there is a no flow jet?
2. Are you just assumed there is a no flow jet?
3. Once that assumption is made, you automatically put the blame on aquamist's faildsafe etc.
4. I am questioning the title pf the thread.
5. Have you tested the failsafe by plugged up one jet before installation?
6. Have you found the no-flow jet?
7. If yes, what caused the no-flow?

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

Hi. Serial number is 103005. Bought new in the box from a Subaru performance shop in Calgary. I bought the direct port direct from you.

Assumption based on my logs. Cylinder 4 didn't have the octane the other cylinders had, and it knocked through the roof, No change in afr or a switch to safe map..
I'm using my hfs3 for the sole purpose of octane increase.
After knock occurred I tried it again and same knock, sane cylinder.
Switched off system via dash button... Back on boost at my safe non WMI ignition map.. No issues.
Back home took jets out and all seems fine.
Jets back in and going 100% again.
I followed the fail safe setup in the instructions but it doesn't mention further instructions regarding a direct port installation.
I'm not saying this may ever happen again but I'd like to catch it if it does. That why I'm using the AM Hfs3! For the failsafe.
Dyno tomorrow.

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

Thank you for the answers.

I like to first establish if it was a non-flowing jet that caused your knock issue but you said that are flowing fine. If this is the case, the failsafe is working as normal.

The aquamist failsafe does not detect knock, just flow.

Re: Failsafe didn't catch a no flow jet

I'm gonna start from the ground up regarding setting up the failsafe again. This time I'm gonna deactivate the map switching, run the safe non WMI tables only, block one of the direct port lines and see what happens

A non flow jet for sure caused the knock... What else could it have been.. Look at the log above.. All the knock readongs are around 20 except cylinder 4... 100+ on log.
I'm running a 15 degrees increase on ignition timing with WMI than without it. Take out WMI to one cylinder and whats gonna happen...?
Exactly what happened above.
