There is something to be said about lowering the EGT.

If the EGT is too low, it means that you are not taking the advantage of heat within the cylinder for making power. Power needs heat - you need to run the EGT as close to 900C as possible - for cast pistons.

If your EGT is climbing towards 1000 to 1100C, you will be in danger of a meltdown - But there will be plenty of power available. You should than inject water to control the excess EGT to within 900C or 950C to 980C for Forge pistons. The heat absorbed by the water will increase the effective compression ratio without the excess heat (semi-steam engine).

These are extreme tunes but since you have two pumps and all the controls you need to make this possible. Extra exhaust capacity will help a great deal.
