Brave, yes, but not as foolhardy as some might think.
My first turbo engine (kawasaki 750turbo) wasn't intercooled and it could do up to 1 bar with no major drama (OK, it went through a couple sets of pistons in top speed runs
ops: but from the factory it was rated at 0.7bar and NO intercooling)
