Is this in a truck, or an MPV? Just wondering, as I almost bought one two years ago.

1. You can use plain water, but distilled water would be much safer for everything.
2. You can switch it on when you want to, but the Aquamist kit is safe enough to leave it on. If you want something simpler, then yes, you could probably just switch it on and off.
3. Water should keep your engine cooler and cleaner, unless you try to turn up the fuel and boost to take advantage of it.
4. I don't think I am the best to answer this question, but I think unless you free up some carbon that was hiding a problem that you already had, I wouldn't think so.
