Water injection more knock?
I just installed a water injection setup on my car spraying 700cc/min at 21psi boost pre throttle body ( about 6 inches from the carburettor). Now when I turn the water on I experience more knock than without the water. Is this possible? Is my nozzle not atomizing enough? Any thoughts? Cheers

Re: Water injection more knock?
It sounds more like a mis-fire than knock due to some cylinder are over water and the others not enough. Throttle injection is not the greatest way to distribute water evenly.
Compare the sparks plugs colour. If you can take a few pictures and post it them here

Re: Water injection more knock?
I cant get pics as Ive already run on straight fuel recently. The manifold has good distribution. Id say you are probably correct as it seems very inconsistent when the water is on. It sounds identical to detonation when it happens but also the occasional misfire at the same time. Could excess water or large droplets cause detonation on some cylinders?

Re: Water injection more knock?
Perhaps some data might help. How much water is being injected against the power of your engine. Is you engine turboed or supercharged?

Re: Water injection more knock?
I am dumping in 750ml/min in-front of the turbo and am getting timing pulled when I have perfect timing without meth. I am going to back the mix off and then work my way back up to see what is triggering it.
Timing loss is only on meth onset and I am not progressive. I wonder if its flooding or something. Last edited by rudypoochris; 06-02-2013 at 11:20 PM. |
