Re: RICESP Water Injected RX7
Well It seems to me that others think they doing something extra special that no one has ever done before with porting when infact it has most likely been done before. Look at what people did when bridge ports got band in racing, they made the herringbone ports, or the tiger stripe ports.
Why don't you like bridge ports?? |

Quote:
The single digit percentage gains in power of a racing style port is negated to ZERO when you run a turbocharger (offset by the boost) and its a very minor difference. There is a big gain to be had over stock to my street ports but diminishing returns to race port versions. Apex seals on the other hand

Re: RICESP Water Injected RX7
Ah ok, so you would use bridge ports in racing? Even turbo'd?
Have you got the new engine and setup running? How are you finding it? I have a bridge port motor and turbo setup, everything to make it work, including your WI system. Me and my brother are combing in forces and were putting my engine setup in his 1976 trans am! should be quite fun but I need to change a couple of bits on the engine as it has an FD front cover on and I want to swap it back too an fc as it is using fc 13bt irons. Is it a simple job to swap them over? Just a case of unbolting? Doing that means I don't have to make a custom sump which is a pain in the arse as it takes time. |

Re: RICESP Water Injected RX7
I use full peripheral ports with turbo, it just depends on the application and what you want. Best way is define and be honest what the cars purpose is, then pick the solution around the known variables, its not too hard to do.

Re: RICESP Water Injected RX7
Absolutely love pp turbo, a friend of mine had one and the turbo was prety much spooled up on tickover, running at gt42 with 1.22 rear housing. He didn't have an intercooler though
