Was kinda hoping to keep some level of squish there - we'll have to wait and see! I've not been totally honest with what I'm doing, so I'll have to see how the engine performs as it is, before I get the pistons made up.
Thanks for your input - you've been a gent! Rich |

Squish is good for low-end and midrange efficiency.
If you're going nuts with boost, it goes down in the list of "to do"s Your first priority then is to keep the engine from grenading after a few seconds of sustained full boost. Squish is unfortunately the first to go in the effort to reduce the static compression ratio. You'll also probably need to go for thicker gasket AND lowest possible pistons AND copious amounts of water/meth injection AND 'safe' advance. |

Thanks John,
I'll keep you posted on my progress! Rich |

Hi, I can make the pistons for you. Set will cost cca 1100-1250?. Contact me via pm or mail if you are interested. You need flat-top pistons for that amount of power from 1.8T. I made 680bhp 1.8T. Also. gt42 is the turbo you need. You must overspeed it for 1000HP. Contact me if you want to know more.

I'm not using a turbo.
I've already found a piston supplier, but I would be open to alternatives. PM me your proposed piston specification and I'll certainly consider it. Rich |

Forged pistons can differ between eachother very much. I can say only that engine that has 847bhp ON ALL 4 wheels uses these pistons with custom rods and WASN'T opened for 2 years! JE and some oher pistons will destroy using more that 2.2bars.

Boost pressure doesn't destroy pistons.
Detonation destroys pistons  |

On celica, boost pressure DOES break top ringlands without any signs of detonation in any way. Anything after 1.3b, does break top ringland. Without knocking.

Am still interested in the piston proposal - so pm me the info and I'll take a look.
On the subject of JE pistons, were they off the shelf items, or custom? ie, were they being used in the application they were designed for? If yes, then I would be interested to know the spec on the ringlands. Rich |
