HFS-5: how to map it
I have an HFS-5 system, w/o FIA2, but PWM controlled by my Motec ecu, and 2 x 0.5mm jets after IC outlet...
question... given that I have to look for a water's quantity of 10/15% fuel, what kind of values I'm looking for, on my PWM map, accordingly to my fuel injection map ? I mean... what kind of relationship is there between PWM map values, and quantity of water flowing through my jets ? Thank you.

Once you have picked the jet/jets and put the matching restrictor before the HVS, the PWM % should be a percentage of the jet's maximum flow.

Oh..... this is VERY interesting.... Thank you Richard!

So... the PWM values, I'm going to write in my PWM map, are, in fact, a percentage ??

you can always remove the jets from the intake, direct them into a container, and actually test the effective throughput of different valve duties. this is exactly what i plan to do with my system.
just keep in mind they will be slightly reduced when the jets must discharge into a pressurized intake pipe instead of ambient air--ie true flow rate will be lower than tested when running high boost. luckily the high rail pressure of the hfs5 pump will minimize this effect. ken |

How would you map the PWM signal ?
According to which 2D values ? Boost & air temp ? Inj duty cycle and air temp ? TIA.

i am planning on using MAP and RPM.
pressure sensors are "faster" than temperature sensors... i think you'd observe a pretty tight correlation between MAP and MAT (manifold absolute pressure and temperaure respectively). |
