Default Re: Questions on my direct port meth setup

Totally forgot to mention that.

Bit surprised, based on my calculation it was about 600-700ml (3/4 of 1ltr) per lap, but hard to work out exactly as warm up lap was using some too. (each lap is about 2min 30 sec remember)

Does this sound about right for 5mm jets? (x 4)

I'm only looking to do a maximum of 4 hot laps so my tank can safely hold enough (tank is about 6.7ltr) and I topped it up every session I went out.

Hi All,

Update...

Went back for retune, no hardware changes and only held boost in the upper RPM.

That's a 79WHP and 12KG of torque gain at the wheels (@ 7,000rpm) just with direct port meth and boost holding stronger up top. Clearly can see how a decent sized turbo mixed with direct port meth produces major results!
We experienced ZERO knocks on the det cans and logs too. Didn't even need to adjust the Meth kit, AFR also cleaned up and now runs flat at 12.1:1 AFR

Please note boost on the dyno reader is bout 1.85bar but at MAP sensor in car it was 2.0bar. Dyno operator who also owns two EVO X's said this trnslates to 610 Crank HP...

Here is the new found power (difference in graph is meth on v meth off)

Here is the gains from the last tune, non meth tune and this recent one:

reminder this is on a Mainline dyno, stock this EVO gets 225whp on same dyno and there isn't any EVo's that spool below 4k rpm and produce 461WHP :P It's an absolute beast now!

Heading back to the track next week.. (I also removed 40kg of weight from the car too).

Rob

Guess what...

It now makes 482WHP :P

Had an issue with overboost due to mechanic not tightening up the wastegate hose properly (my turbo kit had to be removed for an inspection, and yes the mech should be shot).

So I went back on the dyno to make sure everything was ok. I also said f%&k it... lets turn boost up!

I always thought my boost was a little lazy and not what BorgWarner turbos should do, so we turned the wastegate rod nut one more turn tighter and boom!

This setup would easily make >500whp for the street if needed. Dyno operator told me 480 equates to over 620 crank Hp...

Dyno run below is now the meth on (with more boost) v Meth off.

I now made a ton more spool and torque down low and a fairly flat boost curve holding @ exactly 2.0bar of boost. I still purposely lowered boost after 7,000 rpm and kept timing lower up top (being a track car).

Yellow line is direct port meth on with the original conservative boost @ 1.75bar
Red line is adjusting wastegate actuator nut one turn and turning boost up to 2.0bar

Meth kit needed no changes and created an even flatter AFR around 12.2 all the way.

Car is an absolute animal now! I keep spinning all 4 wheels in 2nd and 3rd most of the time now (AD08R 255 wide tyres).

More graphs:

The below graph is against my old stock block with a fairly aggressive tune on an HKS 7640 Kai turbo and same bolt on mods as above setup.

Ohh and this is still only running the 4 x 0.5mm jets only.

Just to report back..

Best way to describe this new setup - Proven on track!

I have now visited this track in the last 2 years >8 times. When I had the stock engine with upgraded turbo and bolt ons (plus higher octane than tuned for) it would still show me a few knock lights, then rebuilt engine with forged stroker kit and the EFR 7163 turbo, it would still show me a few flashes of the slow knock light every lap.

I then went with this direct port meth kit, it madea sh!t ton more power, made it much more consistent lap after lap and not once have I seen a knock light again, ohh I'm running even more boost now (2.0bar for track).

Here is the lastest video of me @ Sepang F1 track in Malaysia (yes I'm still learning and have a long way to go) I actually blew my rear diff on this trip boo:

I'm back,

I changed from the EFR 7163 turbo (on the last setup) to the new EFR 8374.

Totally forgot to change the meth jets (0.5mm 220cc jets) and didn't see a big enough difference when switching on meth over base map, AFR only dropped 0.5 richer.

Even still, I made 550whp (on the same heartbreaker dyno as I used before) with hot fuel and spikes in AFR, clearly more to be had!

upgrading to 0.6mm jets.

Stay tuned..

This is a good job
I looked at your track video, on the straight it did 100kph to 200kph in around 8.6 seconds, that is not hanging about.

Thanks!

To me it's slow Having bought an RS3 Sedan with 500hp (tuned it plus IC and intake) it's doing 100-200 in the 7 second range (very fast gear box).

The problem in this car is the huge gap between 4th and 5th for the EVO x gearing and the fact it's a conventional gear box.

I'm moving to motec and sequential 6 speed shifter soon.

I have since then changed the 5th gear ratio and looking to see this drop dramatically.

You should get a Syvecs from me as its a much better ECU, and will do everything you want + more. I have one with direct port on a EV09 does 100 to 200 in 5.6 seconds on H pattern gearbox without need for flat shift, EFR9174 at ~38psi gauge boost, over your side of the world too
