Default Accumulator placement

I'm about to install a 30cc accumulator to my system, and would like to know if it should be installed as close as possible to the distribution block.

I'm a bit limited for space and would like to hang it about 8" away form the block - Will this be detrimental to it's performance?

Thanks

I have the larger 80cc accumulator and it's mounted about 2 feet from my manifold.

From what I understand in hydraulics you would probably want accumulator to be close to source of a spikes (pump in your case) as possible.

My accumulator is mounted about 12" from my distribution block in the engine compartment. My water pump is mounted in the trunk of my car. I've been running this set up for about 2 years now and it has been working great so far.
