Question Install HFS-3 on DI engines - any need to connect MAP sensor?

Dear Richard,

After almost one year of happy usage of HFS-3 on my direct injection engine I have to install the same kit on the new DI car.
Can you please tell me if there is any need to connect MAP sensor to the the ECU cable or not?

I assume that only HFS-4 works with both MAP and injectors simultaneously, while HFS-3 can use either MAP or DI injectors.
Please, correct me if I am wrong; and if so - what benefits can I get from adding MAP sensor?

Thanks!
Alexey

If you connect the MPS on the H3, you are opening up new grounds, see below.

The HFS-3 can use 70% IDC and 30% MPS (manifold pressure sensor) for controlling flow. Factory default is 100% IDC control. To activate the 30%, you need to cut solder link on the underside of the circuit board.

Choice of trigger (IDC or MPS) remains functional and independent of the above options.
What make and model is the new DI car?

There are a few differences on the HFS-4:

1. MPS can be 1 bar (absolute), 2.5 or 3.5 bar. H3 is 0-5V absolute.
2. H4 has infinite ratio between IDC and MPS, 100/0 <-> 50/50 <-> 0/100%.
3. H4 also read the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump to compensate DI's fuel line pressure.

I need to find the appropriate ECU pin out diagram for this car. I have not been asked about them. This is the first time.

EP6DT engine marked in your table as THP150.

The THP150 is a non-turbo EP6DT engine?

THP155 and THP207 are the turbo version of the EP6DT?

EP6DT (DT = direct injection, T= turbo).

Non-turbo is VTi 95 and VTi 120.

EP6DT (THP150) is a turbo engine, same as THP 155 (EP6DTC).

The difference is:
THP150 has EURO 4 class and THP155 - EURO 5.

Those links are very informative indeed. Thank you.

Do you by chance have links to the ECU pin out information?

Question: is the current BMW Mini R56 share the same ECU?

No, i have no info about ECU pins
Maybe Softic have anything. He has experience at his EP6DTS (207RC).

R56 and THP150 have different ECU's.
