Default Question about the different FAVs

Hi i have a HFS-3 earlier in the year i had water ingress and needed to replace the FAV.

I replaced it with 1300cc 806 - 239B instead of the replacement 806 - 556.(didn't look far down the page enough )

Should there be any difference? What is the standard FAV? 1300 or 1600

Reason i ask is, when the old FAV was working the car never over boosted but with the new one it over boosts on WOT.

Many thanks Richard in advance
Steve

It will be a 1300cc FAV.

What is the serial number of your controller? We have not changed the design of the FAV this year and the last. Unless you are comparing a partially failing FAV.

What is wrong with the last FAV?

The last FAV failed because rain water got onto it. Corrosion on the three pins. So it would just go into failsafe when going into boost

So i replace the whole unit, and it works now. A little too well. I'm going to have it remap so this might fix it

I am surprised water could got into the FAV as all components are IP54 rated.
You may need to re-dial in the settings of the system with this new valve.

Hi Richard, please explain what you mean by redial the settings? The controller was never touched, i assume you're just replacing like for like.

Once it's remap I'll report back. As it's the ECU that controls the flow. When it's off the ECU is on a different map

In that case, leave it as it is.

If you like to send the old FAV back to me, I will examine it tell you the cause do failure.
