Toluene injection?
I'm not very proficient in chemistry but I'm quite sure that it doesn't mix well with water. I know that it works well when mixed in the fuel tank (higher octane). Just curious to see if anyone has thought of or tried this.

Bringing this back to the forefront.
I'm willing to give this a shot but wasn't sure if there would be any adverse effects of injecting 100% toluene. Would it enrich the mixture (lower AFR?) and would it still aid in preventing detonation like methanol?

it will be about the same as spraying fuel. Toluene is 120 octane (114 by the US system) but it won't raise octane that much if injected in small amounts. And yes, you'll start running quite rich.
Best way to run toluene is to mix it directly into your gas. I run 30~50% toluene (the balance being 100RON pump gas).

while the volume of toluene and/or xylene needed to raise octane appreciably is too large to be of use in an ADI rig, there may be another alternative:
http://www.torco.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=12 http://www.torco.com/index.php?fusea...ials&test=acel basically torco concentrate is a bottle of MMT solution, which is another organometallic compound similar to tetraethyl lead, and has a very powerful anti-knock effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetraethyl_lead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylc...se_tricarbonyl long thread about it on nasioc: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420798 adding one full 32 oz can of torco to a tank (ie 14gal) of 93 octane will raise it by 8-9 points. most importantly, since the torco is not being consumed when the ADI is not squirting, you don't waste it just idling and motoring around quietly, and you use MORE of it when you get on it. ie.. if you consume 32oz of torco in the space of one tank full of gasoline, you're getting a LOT of it when your ADI is active. you wouldn't want to burn it that fast. it is my intention to work on an alchy/water/torco witch's brew once i get my ADI rig up and running well. my only question at this point is how much alchy i'll need in the mix to keep the petrol-based torco mixed and not settled out of the water. if i have to run 100% meth, so be it.  ken
