water injection installation questions

hi all,

im wanting to run water injection in my engine to help lower inlet temps, as you can see i am very limited to space and have the largest intercooler i could sort of fit within the bodywork.

i am new to this and have won a snow performace stage 2 kit from eBay that i am waiting to arrive.

it has no nozzles with it so i need to get some but need to know how you spec them for the engine?

also im not sure if its a single or dual nozzle kit are there benifits to running say two nozzles?

any help would be great as like i say ive not dabbled with water injection before

1cc/min per hp is a good starting point.

Does the system spray in relationship to fuel flow or boost?

I believe the snow system is pump speed system, ie the flow is weighed at the lower half of the flow range. You may need to starting point quite late on your boost range or risk over spraying at low load and RPM.

The IC itself certainly isnt small. What are intake temps at present ?

Hi,

Recived the kit, it has a controller which you set for when it starts to spray at minimum boost level you want and it does 10% at that psi, you also set for peak boost which the nozzle then is at 100%

Regards inlet temps, thre allways a known problem on kit cars, it not been on the road just had a couple of runs on be dyno, had 10 degrees ambient, inlet temps rose to 25 during one power run with no bodywork fitted and fan pushed up against intercooler.

Speaking to the guys on the rollers they said that they have fitted to the hot side of the inercoolers the nozzle, what are your thoughts on this?

Intake charge temps of 25degC on boost with 20psi are nothing to be even remotely concerned about.
In fact, many would be pleased with that.

If you're injecting water, I would not be injecting it before the intercooler.

Yes, your inlet temps do not seem excessive at this point. If using straight water, you can inject a small amount either on the outlet of the IC, or a small amount into the turbo.

The issue with the controller you have and a smaller jet is the system will probably not work as advertised. The pumps are so oversize compared to the jets, the unit will probably come on at 50% or more and ramp up very quickly. If using a smaller jet, say M5 or smaller, it will act similar to an on/off system.

I'm not trying to put down the system, just be ready for it when you begin to tune with it.

The big pump systems are more intended for high HP usage really, where large volumes of water/meth are required and desired.

You can set the controller to come on at say 10psi and not reach max until say 30-40psi. At least then the pump itself will never run flat out when using only 20psi, which will mean reduced flow.

Yes, you can cheat the system that way to make it work a bit more linear.
