Default Mazda / Ford WLT engine

Hi
Please forgive some very basic questions, but I am considering water injection on a Mazda WL-T 2.5 Turbo Diesel. The reason for water injection is that when the temperature gets high and the weather is dry, there is a noticeable drop-off in performance. Should the temperature drop and there is a fine misty rain in the air, there is a BIG difference in smoothness, and performance. Logical conclusion?...try water injection???
First question:
1/. can I use plain water, or should I try getting washer-fluid concentrate with methanol? (It's hard finding methanol here)
2/. Do I merely switch the unit on as and when I need it climbing hills and accelerating?
3/. The engine has problems with head warping and cracking due to overheating when stressed (although this is often poor maintenance)...therefore, I am presuming that water "cooling" will aid reducing heat.
4/. The engine is a high-miler, so will this matter?
Thanks in advance for any answer!
Also...where to buy a suitable Aquamist setup, and price!?
Cheers
Helzer

Is this in a truck, or an MPV? Just wondering, as I almost bought one two years ago.

1. You can use plain water, but distilled water would be much safer for everything.
2. You can switch it on when you want to, but the Aquamist kit is safe enough to leave it on. If you want something simpler, then yes, you could probably just switch it on and off.
3. Water should keep your engine cooler and cleaner, unless you try to turn up the fuel and boost to take advantage of it.
4. I don't think I am the best to answer this question, but I think unless you free up some carbon that was hiding a problem that you already had, I wouldn't think so.

Hi
It's a grey import from Japan to the UK, and then over here.
It's a Mazda Bongo...MPV-cum-camper...very useful, and extra-ordinarily versatile....
I've owned tuned cars and hobby cars in the past, and always looked for the next vehicle...but this is too good to sell
Anyway...back to the question...it's possibly just one of those vehicles that I have...just a niggle with the heat, and dryness...others may be all-right, but somehow I doubt it... they are mid-engined, and I believe that the tortuous induction system from the middle of the vehicle to the intercooler at the front, and back again can't be doing any service. Take a look at these links:
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopar...n=&imgno=.html
http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopar...n=&imgno=.html
There must be 16 feet of piping in the intercooling circuit, and 7 in the air intake / filter
Some folk have had success with a bigger / more efficient intercooler in the UK, but I reckon it's only scratching the surface, and water injection may REALLY help
Thanks for your thoughts, and any others forthcoming
Cheers
Helzer

We have the Bongo, Bongo Van, Bongo Friendee, Bongo Brawny, and Bongo Brawnee Van. With a midengine, it should help yes. I would like to see some real pics of the engine etc. I can't find anything on yahoo auctions.

I would think that deleting the IC and using pre and post turbo should help out alot.
