Default Help with HFS-4 v3 setup on BMW Z4 35i (E89 N54)

Hi,

I need some advice on the wiring of the HFS-4 to my BMW Z4 35i. I have used the 335i N54 version 3 wiring diagram downloaded from the forum. My questions are:
1. Do I cut the white DMU ?7? wire for "failsafe wastegate valve" as shown in this diagram (circled orange in attached picture)? I have installed the wires exactly as shown in this diagram.

2. The default jumper setup shown in the version 3 install manual (supplied with my HFS-4), and the default jumper settings in the BMW 335i wiring diagram (from the Aquamist forum) show different default jumpers. I note however that although the 335i wiring instructions (from the forum) states it is for version 3 boards, the picture of the board in the 335i wiring diagram does not show the ?version 3? board as supplied. I assume I use the version 3 board default settings from the manual, but change ?CEL? to ?DR1? as per the 335i wiring diagram?

Any advice you can give to clarify would help a lot!

Thanks!

Thanks Richard. I have wired as per your updated page. However, as my car has comfort access the HFS-4 powers on briefly whenever I open the car and before getting to ignition on. From the HFS-4 instructions, the unit is not meant to power up until the ignition is full on - 2 press of the start button.

Therefore the power on process is not always the same. Sometimes when it powers on the gauge lights representing flow turn on up to the 50% mark and then run back to 0. Other times the gauge backlights light only. Can you please advise if I need to change anything?

BMW does play around with the ignition 12V. The instruction is for 95% of the cars in general, BMW is one of those few exceptions.

The system willnot inject until it see fuel injection pulses.

So is there anything I can do? Is this a problem?

What do you mean "the system willnot inject until it see fuel injection pulses"? Do you mean power on sequence of the gauge running up and down at initial power on?

When testing the system the leds on the board flash as described in the manual.

It is not a problem, it is how the BMW controls the power on. The wiring diagram is dated, jumper links are not correct. Use the one below.

I don't understand your concern about the system start up procedure as long as the aquamist does not inject before the engine is running.

Can you tell me who supplid the system to you?
