Default Joey L’s R33 GT-R with DP HFS-4

I joined this forum way back in 2015 because I love this product and wanted to install one in my car. Lots of things happened inlife and I didn’t have time to work on my car until 2020…..anyway just want to say thank you to Richard for helping me with this amazing product and his support. And some pictures of my build/tune/idea

Little rundown of my build: RB26 260cdur 10.8mm lift, EFR8374 1.05 twin 38mm gates, Haltech E2500 with individual EGT. Haltech spits out digital signal to HFS4 and the Aquamist control housekeeping/safety. It’s 50/50 water methanol with distilled water and ethanol from local hardware store. I aim it at about 17-20% ratio to gasoline but I am still trying out different tuning ideas.

Currently running 0.5mm check valve jets on all 6 cylinders. I planned to put one more for IAT cooling but haven’t found it necessary. I haven’t really pushed the car but it’s almost like the engine doesn’t knock with the 91AKI we have in Canada.

In the referenced picture, ECU reduce fuel (gasoline) by 3.25gram/second. Assuming the mixture of water/meth is 50/50, 3.25g/s * 2 = 6.5g/s. If we divide it by mass fuel flow (6.5g/s / 38.38g/s) you get 16.9%. Please let me know if the calculation is incorrect.

Thumbs up Re: Joey L’s R33 GT-R with DP HFS-4

Looks good, I run something similar in a R34 GT-R.
One thing I can say after using this for 30 years is that 'nothing' matched the durability of a water injected car, trends and pretenders come and go but nothing beats water injection

Thanks for the feedback Peter! I have read lots of your posts here and may have picked up a few tips! I saw your R34 project before. I think it was a RB30 stroker with a syvecs/life racing? Sick build.

If you don't mine me asking, how much boost you think this setup can handle, using 91AKI pump gas with Aquamist? CR is 8.5. I haven't pushed it at all just to preserve the engine.

You will have to establish that on the specific parts combo you have and the settings you choose. On the R34 with OS Tomei 3.15 engine ran above the 'consumer advertised' limit of the EFR9180 turbo pegged at 126k rpm which is possible using the turbo speed control system in the Syvecs/LR ECU.

Ah I see. I have the turbo shaft speed sensor as well. I think at 1.6bar at 8000rpm I have around 111k rpm. Max speed rated at 127krpm. same as 9180. Some head room but close to max out.

I only use the turbo speed to reduce boost solenoid output when its approaching shaft speed limit for safety. Not sure if there is a way to tune fueling with turbo speed input.

I guess my question was if I will have detonation/knock as limiting factor

9180 is much larger turbine, have to look it up to be 100% but 117k is the limit for that one from memory.

You have the right CR for petrol, so its just down to how much WM you use and other details on your engine. You may run out of turbo before you face any knock limits.

OK thank you!

Yeah you are right 9180 has lower turbo shaft speed limit. However 9174 has the same shaft speed limit 8374. I must have them mixed up.
