Default Eaton blowers and their teflon coating

I've heard some internet rumors that at a 50/50 mix of water and methanol that it will eat away at the teflon coating on the eaton blowers, is this true or not.

Eaton blowers come stock on the 03-04 Cobra's and 98-2004 Lightnings.
I heard the 98-99 Lightnings had problems with the eaton blowers failing but since their design change does anyone know of any failures that were blamed on water/methanol injection.

Thanks
Michael Plummer

I sure hope it doesnt hurt the coating--I'm running about a 70/30 W/M mix for cooling as well as planning to run a 100 wet shot through the Eaton.I'll probably be the one to find out since I put alot of miles on the car.

Thanks for that info--I have been using mine pretty hard now for about 8000 miles with no problem but--You never know. For one thing the water/meth is nearly or completely evaporated by the time it gets to my charger.Also--how come the kits that Magnuson makes with the carb on top dont show problems when the accelerator pumps put a mist of cool fuel through the charger?

my eaton made by jackson racing gets injected after the blower in the manifold so it never touches the rotors of the blower

From what I've heard, the coating comes off on it's own anyway and is only to quiet the sound down and storage before it's shipped out. Coating loss is a natural part of the roots blower's lifespan and doesn't affect boost in any noticable way from what I've heard. A guy who was running 10-11 psi through his on a k series honda motor was seeing perfectly normal boost levels and making great power -- his charger had a large quantity of the coating gone from using nitrous and normal wear and tear and it still operated normally. He would not have known unless he went looking at the blades during a tear down after blowing the motor on the dyno.

My $0.02

actually the teflon coating is for heat dissapation. there are actually 2 holes on the top of blower, on the side where the rotors are visible that are to quieten the blower down.

Only problem with it coming off is if one is running after cooler or something that can get clogged with the paint chips.

Other than that the supercharger will function just perfectly with or without the paint.
I will have some more technical information in a few more days as it becomes available. I have asked a few folks who can get the real/complete answer from folks fairly close to jackson / magnuson to ensure that the above is mostly correct. I will let you know what I get back.
