Mazda / Ford WLT engine
Hi
Please forgive some very basic questions, but I am considering water injection on a Mazda WL-T 2.5 Turbo Diesel. The reason for water injection is that when the temperature gets high and the weather is dry, there is a noticeable drop-off in performance. Should the temperature drop and there is a fine misty rain in the air, there is a BIG difference in smoothness, and performance. Logical conclusion?...try water injection??? First question: 1/. can I use plain water, or should I try getting washer-fluid concentrate with methanol? (It's hard finding methanol here) 2/. Do I merely switch the unit on as and when I need it climbing hills and accelerating? 3/. The engine has problems with head warping and cracking due to overheating when stressed (although this is often poor maintenance)...therefore, I am presuming that water "cooling" will aid reducing heat. 4/. The engine is a high-miler, so will this matter? Thanks in advance for any answer! Also...where to buy a suitable Aquamist setup, and price!? Cheers Helzer |
