Adding jets to reduce IAT temperature?
Hi,
I have Aquamist HFS-3 on my Subaru Impreza EJ207 STI and it works pretty well: - 2 x 0.7mm pre throttle body (50/50 water/meth) - FMIC - GTX3076r @ 20 psi - ID1000 (~60% IDC) It's very hot (Weather: 85?F) I would like to reduce my intake air temperature (actually ~115?F on my IAT sensor that is just before the water jets) What would be the best solution? Adding pre compressor nozzle? adding post compressor or something else? Regards. |

Re: Adding jets to reduce IAT temperature?
You really need to move the pre throttle jets to the exit of the intercooler. This allows more time for evaporation and reduce charge temperature before arriving the Throttle.

It won't affect detonation protection if I move them at the exit of the intercooler?

Re: Adding jets to reduce IAT temperature?
it will improve it. You can a more balance cylinder distribution, less likely to starve one cylinder and over-fill the others.

Re: Adding jets to reduce IAT temperature?
Thank you very much.
I gonna move the jets at the exit of the intercooler. Can I safely add a little 0.4mm pre compressor too? Regards. |

Re: Adding jets to reduce IAT temperature?
We have a few end user using this option but rarely receive a feedback.
I would try the new location jet first.

When in the past had the front mount intercooler setup, putting the jet just at the exit of the intercooler would be too far. Also the mist needed to climb a 2" pipe height of car -> 90 degree elbow -> throttle body -> intake plenum. Every setup is different but if you have a picture of your setup we could help you better according piping length and size.... Also 85F or 29DegC is hot but not VERY hot. Here in Malta we see 35C+ in summer and I run no intercooler / only water injection. Temps are 40DegC / 104F during slow running and sometimes 55DegC/131F when long idle. On boost and water injection I see 30degC / 86F Also I would position the IAT in the plenum or into throttle body or the nearest possible Last edited by parmas; 27-05-2015 at 07:26 AM. |

Hi,
This is a picture of my setup. You can see my two jets and IAT sensor position. 2.5" diameter piping Regards. Quote:

Could you take a picture from top of the engine showing intercooler output piping length and angles ? |
