I have tried for the third time to wire in this system the way you have said with no joy! Every time I wire it in I get a CEL for boost control soleniod low. I have followed your diagrams and one thing that has me wondering is that the system config on the 2007 has only 14 different options where as my control box has 16? I follow your steps but without fail that solenoid isn`t getting what it needs right from the time I hook up the wires. Even when I wire it up and jump the DR1 I still get the CEL. Any idea on whats my issue?

High Richard,

I followed the instructions and can`t get the fail safe working. Soon as I wire it in like this I get CEL on and can`t build proper boost. I was on to Cam at light speed inovations where I bought the kit, and he couldn`t help and suggested I try you. Could it be something with the control unit itself?

Thanks

Can you tell me which failsafe option you are using? Map switch or boost cut?

1. If you are using map switch on the test mode connector, make sure you remove the "CLP" jumper.
2. If you are using the brown wire (solenoid side) and white (ECU side) failsafe. Make sure you link "DR1" jumper.

You only need to use one or the other, not both.

Hi

I`m only trying to use the boost cut. I tried again tonight wiring it in and linking the DR1 and not the CLP still no go. The CEL comes on just a few seconds after starting the car. All the pins I have linked are IDC PWM FAV DR1 FSO DHB. It doesn`t seem to matter what I do ie turn the gauge on or off the brown and white wire will always stay open and never go to closed circuit. I don`t understand why it isn`t going closed circuit right off the bat and not open until it would detect a fault. And why the CEL when linking DR1.

Thanks Scott

Just another thing to metion testing with a DMM even on the white and black wire turning the gauge on or off I can get it to change from open to closed circuit. Not that I need to use the black but I tested it anyway.

Just to confirm, you have connected the white wire to the ECU side and brown to the wastegate solenoid (BCV) side after cutting the ECU cable.

Please disconnect the white and brown wire and check the continuity of the brown and white wire under the following conditions:

1. no power to the system (gauge on or off) ......... open circuit
2. ignition on, gauge off ......... open circuit
3. ignition on, gauge on ...... closed circuit

Yes I cut the wire and hooked them up that way.
Those other checks I have done and it will not go closed circuit.

Can you check the wire order of the grey harness for me as below:

- Red (from gauge side)
- Red
- green
- orange
- white
- yellow
- blue
- black
- brown
- not used - any colour

If the colour order is correct check for RJ plug damage:

Hi

I just checked this throughly and I wasn`t able to see any kind of corrosion or damage. I also checked the wiring with a magnifiglass the ECU cable grey.
RED
RED
GREEN
ORANGE
YELLOW
WHITE
BLUE
BLACK
BROWN
Is this the problem the yellow and white wire back to front? Should I try soldering these wires the other way round?

Yes, the yellow and white harness is rotated. Please for the time being, use the yellow as white. Pm me your address, I will send you a new grey harness. This is no harm to the system.

I apologise on behalf of the person who inspected the harness.
