Default No power to controller

So I recently wired in my hfs4 system into my 2009 Mazdaspeed 3. When hooking the controller power, we have the power to the cigar lighter, as the ignition cable wasn't working when we tapped into it. Ground are attached separately, and im not using the dimmer wire. The box is still not getting power at all, so i was just wondering if it may be a faulty controller, or if there is something im not seeing.

have you also connect the little red wire of the grey harness to a switched power source?
