High Boost + W.I
hey hey all i wont bore you with chit chat. Straight to the Point.
What would be the optimal way to use Water injection on my setup. Currently the car has a Compression ratio of 7.5.1 its a 1500 cc with a Tdo4H turbo. 400cc injectors+ Megasquirt Pro. Currently the car is Boosting 1.5 bar on Pump gas(95octane). So i bought this W.I Kit. what will be the best way to use it. PS:No one has Ever Research or devloped my engine. anyway if you where tuning the car how would you tune it. (My Megasquirt can do progressive Nitrious/methonal.) Start injection meth a 1.3bar (my low boost point) all the way upto 1.8 bar or Start injection @.5 bar and advance timing Heavy all the way to 1.8 bars. I ask these question because i dont know and dont wanna Appear to be a Complete Nuub. Please assist where you can. i Finally got the kit and want to start making POWER! If I was tweaking your ride to accomodate water injection, I would try starting the water at .9 to 1 bar- much lower
than that your car will run rough when the water comes on. You do have a good knock sensor installed don't you? If so, try to get a gauge that will allow you to see the knock sensor begin to take out timing. You want to start the water just before the knock sensor starts taking away timing. If you do not have a knock sensor, get one. |

Looking at your car and set up you will be limited with how you can tune it without an upgraded ignition system.
Water Injection in suitable ratios that will allow octane increase of 8, 12, 16 full points requires you to have a high energy CDI ignition system, without this you can only run token amounts of water and really will have marginal gains (if not even losses) if you don't fine tweak the system to work around you limited ignition capacity. Once this is upgraded (please excuse me if I over looked it and you have this done already) then you need to work out exactly (and i mean exactly) just how much water you do have available (percentage by weight of water to fuel) < this will determine also how the car is tuned in terms of what fuel air ratio you can run and also the amount of boost pressure you can exploit. Once you have this info on hand then I can give you an answer as to how you can tune it and just how much power you can exploit with water injection. It is not uncommon to have 25% gains in power and in highly developed situations you can expect more than 75% increase in power if you have the turbo charger and engine block strength + all other sub systems to support it while still using the identical petrol you are using now. If you have stock ignition and non know waster delivery rate and could not care to go to these lengths of upgrades and knowledge of what you are putting in then I agree with above post turn it on at 1 bar and keep the same basic tune you have now and take it to 2.0bar and see how you go. If it misfires too much mixing alcohol in with the water will help greatly for ignition system limited vehicles. (50/50 works).
