Water injection - Any effect on standard Focus RS?
Hey people,
Got a 2003 Focus RS (2.0 litre Turbo) would water cooling have any benefit for a stock unmodified engine? Cheers Rob |

Going by my personal experience the biggest thing you will notice is the performance in the hot weather is very good, alot of turbo cars really suffer when the ambient temps are high, my car is running like its a fresh winter morning everyday!

Apparently the Focus dumps more fuel when knock`s detected, so if you WI it you should never hit knock, the ecu won`t add more fuel or retard the timing so you should get cleaner full trottle pulls even on the hottest of days!

er no it doesn't, there is no active knock control on Focus RS as it runs the old EEC5 ems and there was no time within the original cal program to veriy the knock detection chip / board's reliability / repeatability etc. You will need to recal (via superchip's bluefin etc) the engine to see the best results. Although as mentioned the chargercooler system does upheat significantly if you leave the car idling for any period and water injection will improve the first pull away performance. Std cal is very safe (BLD -4 and AFR's around 10:1). WI will allow much more advance and negate the need to run such rich AFR's for exhaust line component protection, hence you can run much more airflow (ie boost) within the headroom of the std injectors. |
