Flow no more than 2 bars
I have hfs3 v2 installed in 08 sti.
All worked normal, all tests passed. My max IDC is 71%, threshold set to 28% IDC, but my flow meter not showing any more than 2 bars, I've tried to use gain trigger as so as SC on gauge with no results - still 1-2 bars even with 71% idc. Could it be |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
1. What jet size you are using?
2. Have you tried adjusting SC on the gauge? |

2. Yes, we've tried SC, didn't change anything at all. In FIDC test mode I also see no morethan 2 bars. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
Questions please...
1) Can you tell me if the fuel injectors are standard factory 16 ohm type? 2) there is a small sticker on the left of the circuit board with three numbers, can youe tell what they are 3) how many bar is showing under SYS test? |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
1) Injectors are FIC 850cc HiZ
2) could tell later 3) sys without jet installed - full bars, with jet - 2 bars |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
The system is working fine.
Justr need to deal with the bar display. Can you tell me what jet size are you using? There is a small sticker with three numbers on it. It i ssituated on the center-left of the circuit board. These number will tell me the flow sensor table. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
1. one 1.0mm jet size
2. as I noticed by my WB sensor - meth spraying work as good as it should, total AFR drop is in ok range right where it should be when system is on, but I couldn't normally use safe feature with WL properly tuned because of only 2 bars flow on full load with 68% IDC. 3. Small sticker says SN: 100638 |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
There is a smaller sticker just above it, with three numbers.

Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
This is highist flow sensor table.
1) Did you say adjusting the SC has no effect? 2) Can you put a 0.9mm jert (spare), let me know many bar this one displays 30 Do you knoe anyone has a PIC programmer? I can email you a lower flow table. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
1) Yes, adjusting SC totally has no effect, mb it shows 2 bars later or sooner with adjusting but no more than 2
2) We did it before, for the first run of the system. With FID close to 85% it shows 3 bars with 0.9mm jet. 3) Yes, we've got one specialist around. If You could provide us with small how to guide and image I think we could reprogram it. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
I think we need tro know why the SC is not working, not probably due to a broken circuit board track in the gauge. Are you able to solder?
Before this, I would like you test the SC trimmer as follows: 1) open up the H3 controller. 2) move the jumper link form "PRK" to "BAR". 3) move the SC trimmer left and right, you shoudl will see the bars move on the gauge. Let me know the result. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
It didnt work, shows always 4 bar in BAR test mode, sc trimmer didn't change anything.
What could it be? |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
Th ebar test showed there is no comminucation between the gauge and controller.
The next step... 1. with the help of a magnifying glass, carefully check the two RJ connectors of the gauge cable, make sure there are no damages between the gold fingers. 2. Do you have a digital multimeter? |

2. Yes I have digital multimeter. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
The flow signal is OK but "SC" link is not there to put more gain the on the gauge.
Here is how it work: 1. The controller read the SC setting from the gauge 2. Depending on the SC setting, the controller will modify the flow signal from the flow sensor and send it back to the gauge for display. I know if is complicated, but this is how it works If you have a multimeter, can you tell me the voltage at test pin22 relative to the ground pin (bottom left of the test pins). This is a direct reading of the SC trimmer. If the SC trimmer is set to 12 o'clock, it should read 2.5V. the full range of the SC trimmer is 0-5V. I await your test result. |
Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
Hello Richard, I'll be able to do it only in two weeks, cause it's client car and it'll be in our workshop in two weeks.

Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
Can you solder? It can be handy if there is a dry joint to repair.

I measure pin22 relative to ground, it's 2.48V no matter what SC setting is set. What should I do next? |

Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
Good.
I will make a diagram for you the exact location. Let me you the serial number of your controller. I suspect a dry solder joint may have caused this. |

Re: Flow no more than 2 bars
The controller needs to be reflashed for a lower flow table. The system is flashed for a twin jet operation from factory. Can you send the circuit board back to us:
