HFS5, making it run. Is it normal that:

Hello,

all the jobs on my new engine are finished, so I'm trying to check everything before turning the key for the first time.

Talking about my HFS5 system is it normal that,

1. when I turn on the key, at the first step of the key, the Shur-flo pump correctly starts, but when I turn the key to the second step, without cranking the engine, the pump stops

2. when I push air in the IC pipes to make a leak test ( around 2 bars ), air is coming out from my 2 water nozzles ?

Thank you.

Hello

1) Describe how the power is hooked up to the pump and the DDS3, it sounds fine but just to make sure.

2) where is the air coming out, around the fittings, the jets...etc......

Just for reference, what kind of car what year?

Sorry for asking for more info just looking to make sure you get good info back.

The air comes out from the jets' hole !
I have 2 jets fitted, and it's the same for both...

I would go back over the install and double check how you have power hooked up.

You say the air leaks around jets hole, the jets are mounted in soft pipes or hard pipes?

Hi turbojack,

the power supply is via a dds3 controlled switch.

No, the air is not coming out around the jet, but through the jet's hole!

u could use either a checkvalve after the nozzle or a "Tee" with a closed loop of pipe ,in order to do ur pressure test

Hi Rogerius,

yes, sure I could do in that way...

but I was only asking if it is normal that air can come back from the nozzle !

I thought they had a one way valve inside !

rogerius 19-06-2007 02:41 PM

the nozzles don't have one way valve inside.
That is why keithmack advised me to use a checkvalve just before the nozzle,to keep the line between pump and nozzle presurised.
The ERL pump acts as a checkvalve for the tubing from pump and going to tank.

I think that in my case the HSV will act as a one way valve then...
Thank you!
