Is a cooler spark plug required after WI fitted

Hello, I have had a quick flick through the forum but I could not find anything that would confirm if I needed to run a cooler spark plug with WI than without.

I am currently using NGK Irridium heat range 8 at the minute, but I am worried the lower combustion chamber temps will reduce their capabilities.

I dont have an EGT fitted as yet, its on that long "to do list" so I am not sure of my current EGTs. Is this the measure I should use to select the correct plug?

usually with forced induction motors with increased manifold pressure
could cause detonation from the hotter heat range...

this is usually why we drop down to a cooler heat range plug.
but without an egt gauge to monitor the temperature it will be
conjecture / educated guess.

besides it would be nice to be able to monitor the egt's
and watch them drop when the water/meth starts spraying.

was stock heat range 7?

Stock plugs are range 6, I was getting sooty deposits on them with no knock and good AFRs so I went for a cooler plug.

I will keep an eye on the tips for deposits not burning off on the current plugs and will get the EGT gauge in. I am more worried about the tips getting to cold and losing spark quality while setting up with the spray, i dont want to remove fuel if poor combustion is affecting my AFRs.

Did you have to change heat ratings to/from stock when you added the spray?
