Every setup is different but if you have a picture of your setup we could help you better according piping length and size....

Also 85F or 29DegC is hot but not VERY hot. Here in Malta we see 35C+ in summer and I run no intercooler / only water injection.
Temps are 40DegC / 104F during slow running and sometimes 55DegC/131F when long idle. On boost and water injection I see 30degC / 86F

Also I would position the IAT in the plenum or into throttle body or the nearest possible
