Hi, I need help.
Recently I have installed new Aquamist HFS-3 kit to Subaru Sti and started system testing according to manual. But testing the spray pattern of the jets have failed, FAV doesn't work.
Test "Priming and purging of the system" is ok.
Harnesses are switched correctly.
At the gray harness green wire switched to injector "-", red wire switched to injector "+".
When I put 12V across the two parallel prongs of FAV coil it works.

Can you post a picture of the controller, a nice hi-res, in focus picture. I like to see the programming pin on the right hand side of the board.

Now I have only this photo.

When you tested the system, what jumper did you use to link the SYS?

I used PRK jumper to SYS

The jumper link remained on the FAV?

The jumper link remained on the FAV?
Yes, jumper link remained on the FAV

Good.

Do you have a digital voltmeter?

Good.

Do you have a digital voltmeter?
Yes, I have multimeter.

Great. Can you unplug the red harness and measure the resistance of the two outer pins (red and black).

I can do this tomorrow.

Resistance between red and black pins - 0 Ohm.

This with the FAV plugged in?

This with the FAV plugged in?
Yes, FAV plugged in

0 ohm is a short circuit. The FAV should have a resistance of 12 ohms. What resistance scale were you on?

Send a picture of the reading.

Oh, sorry. There is no resistance between red and black pins.

OK.

Measure the resistance between black and blue

Also can you check the inside of the FAV connector. I there must be a loose joint inside.

Inside of the FAV connector red and yellow, black and blue wires soldered together

Richard L

Are they soldered onto the the two connector's contacts securely?

I will have checked it tomorrow.
Maybe red wire have a problem, because between yellow and black (blue) resistance 13.5 Ohms.

Richard L

Where did you measure the 13.5ohm from?

Given up?

I suspect the cable is damaged.

When I opened FAV connector one of the wire was damaged, they are very thin. I will solder it and will look on.
I'm measured 13.5 Ohms by cheap Chinese multimeter, maybe that's the point? :)

I have soldered wire. Now between red and black pins resistance 13.5 Ohms.
But testing the spray pattern of the jets steel have been failing, FAV doesn't work.

We are making progress.

Can you send a picture of your repaired location.

I have had someone calling me this afternoon regarding purchasing a HFS3 controller, was it related to you?

Now I have nothing to make photo with.
Yes, there was a telephone call to you from us.

Can you describe how the red cable got damaged?

I like to move on and and make some tests to establish the signal to the FAV is working, using the DVM you have. Make sure the FAV is connected.

1. Measure the voltage of pin 1 with the system on. (should be 12V)
2. Link SYS
3. Measure the voltage at the same place again. It should be OV

I wait for you results.

I gathered you have ordered a new controller. I hope this will solved the problem. If there is a short circuit on the cable it can easily damage the driver transistor. Please check the damaged cable is repaired properly and well insulated against the environment.

Can you explain how the cable got damaged?
