I'm initially going to tune my turbo ZZR11 with regular unleaded fuel (C118 will come later).

Anybody know what inlet temps I should be looking to NOT go over?

The only comparisson I have is my friends turbo ZX12 which had inlet temps as high as 137deg C on a recent flier (was using C118) we thought the water injection was working but it turned out that the oulet had come off the pump!!!

He wasn't running a flow meter!!!

Did run 231mph at Elvington though

Are you referring to the intercooler outlet or turbo outlet temperature?

Hi Richard,

By inlet I'm refering to plenum or intercooler outlet.

Anything between ambient to 65C is idealfor power an economy. If you are going for absolute power, the cooler the better providing it doesn't freeze the fuel.

Over 65C will require start lowering you knock threshold. I am only guessing.

I'm thinking more along whats highest temps allowable.
Mike ran fliers with plenum temps as high as 137C and motor held together!!
This is big turbo application on the ZX12R bike, mine is equally as big but on a ZX11.

I was just wondering if there was a temp at which you really should not exceed, but I'm sure this really depends upon engine spec & boost with regard to turbo efficiency.

I know that colder is best but this little motor is going to have to be really pushed to turn out 500hp at around 30psi.......

Just need to wait for my data logger to be returned from Italy then should be able to get some real figures going :D
