Want to install custom meth plate

Hello,
I plan on installing my hfs4 kit with custom meth plates that need to be tapped for the injectors. I am looking for help/advice on what size checkvalve jets I should use, whether I need a compression or hosetail port option, and what size/pitch is used in order to update the manufacturer of the meth plates for my 2013 audi b8.5 s4. the link to the meth plates are here: http://sillyrabbitmotorsport.com/3.0...-injection-kit

I followed what I could from a previous s4 owners thread (infinkc) but with missing pictures and some descriptives missing I could really use some assistance please and thank you.
TIA for any help anyone can provide on this. My first meth/water kit install.

Also I am assuming I will need this manifold to run the 6 direct port injection nozzles?

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Ideally, you should get the DP bundle as it contains all the parts for a successful direct port installation.

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Thank you for the reply and I will look into getting that kit from a local distributor. Another question regarding the hfs4 as I bought the kit used and it was previously on a bmw are there any changes internally I should make for the controller? Is there an audi b8/b8.5 specific install guide/manual available? I am concerned about the ecu wiring and making sure that it is correctly configured. This will be my first meth kit install so I am pretty green as far as the ins outs of everything. Thank you again!

What is the SN of the HFS4? I will check it for you can may post a wiring diagram if we have one. Which Audi model and year is this?

The controller should be OK if it is not hacked too much

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Since this is a supercharged engine, we cannot implement the failsafe on this engine except cutting the ignition etc.. Here is the wiring diagram:

Hey Richard thank you for the reply, s/n is: 122169
Car is a 2013 s4 b8.5

Also I was thinking of running the 0.4mm jets 140cc for each port with a direct port injection meth plate, Im planning on running a bit more aggressive tune. That sound reasonable? Thanks for all your help

Another question, I received the fav but appears to be missing the metal mount as shown in this pic:

This is mine:

Is this part sourceable alone or have to buy a whole new fav? Thanks again for your continued help!

Did you not contact the person that sold you the system?
You controller is fine for the CGX_ engines.

The metal bracket is just a simple metal plate with a slot and two holes. You can purchase something around $5 on our online shop, It way it will cover our shipping cost to you. Make sure you leave a comment at checkout to remind me.

Yeah I was in touch with him and he's going to try and find it or grab me one from howerton engineering, just wanted your thoughts since howerton says on their website they will not provide support to second hand purchasers so I didn't even try. As far as everything else I'm trying to find my way through everything since I have never ran or installed a meth system yet, but from my research yours is the best so here I am lol If I need to order from yoou I will most definitely add a note at check out. Thank you again for your time, Im sure I'll be back, I suck with wiring schematics lol

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Ok I'm back lol, What do you recommend for tapping the ecu wiring? Are positaps sufficient or should I look for something like ecu piggyback pins?

Richard L 24-07-2017 07:25 AM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

positap is good, soldering is better.

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Solder it is then! Question about jets and restrictors.
I plan on running x6 0.4mm 110cc jets through the direct port meth injection plates being fabricated. I may at some point, probably fairly soon after initial setup I will run another injector pre or just post tb. Do I need to run a restrictor in either of these scenarios? Currently I have 0.7 restrictor installed in the FAV. Thanks again for all of your help!

Jroyalty7 25-07-2017 02:32 AM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Also Jeff at Howerton says the adapters to convert the jets and valves to AN fittings were discontinued, so there's no way to run stainless braided lines anymore? He suggested 4mm Teflon lines for the engine Bay. Would this be the best for the high temp the lines will be exposed to under the supercharger? Should I just use the included pfte line from the trunk to engine bay or is there a better substitute?

Richard L 25-07-2017 07:57 AM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

There is nothing wrong with nylon or PTFE line. They have been used in rally car for years.
We have never supply PTFE line with the kit between the trunk and the engine bay. We supply 6mm OD nylon lines.

The reason people use them is mostly for cosmetic reasons. Inside the steel braiding, they are just PTFE lines.

Leave the restrictor. The system is perfectly capable to deliver a linearly flow without them.

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Understood and thank you for both responses, placed an order for the DP manifold kit and left a note regarding the bracket I needed for the FAV, as we discussed previously. Thabk you again for taking time to answer each and every post/concern it's very much appreciated!

Hey Richard,
Another question. I Noticed my Fused Power Relay currently has a 15a fuse installed, should this be a 30a fuse instead?

Richard L 27-07-2017 06:40 AM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

No, 15A is the max.

Hey Richard,
Still waiting on various pieces to my set up before install but was wondering if it is still.necessary/recommended to run a solenoid with the DP injection checkvalves? If so any you recommend? TIA

Hey Richard,
Working on the install/wiring and had some questions...of course lol... So for the gray wiring harness only a few of the wires are used in the wiring diagram you posted for me. Am I to assume that the other wires just get tucked away then? No use for them?

Also the wiring diagram states to tap into pin 59 which is labeled ylw/violet however in my ecu pin 59 is green/yellow amd pin 60 is ylw/violet... do I stay with pin 59 or the color described?? See pic below

Which model year is your car? The pin-out is identical but wire colours are different. 2010/2011 is the change-over period.

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Hey, ended up getting a wiring diagram from Erwin, pin 59 was correct just a different color in my box. Getting closer to a test run just need to finish running lines to the tank and engine bay. And just to confirm the other wires not listed on the diagram are unused in my application correct? There's no way to hook up a failsafe for the supercharged 3.0 correct? 2013 audi s4 b8.5 is ny car. Thank you again for your help

Richard L 07-08-2017 06:21 AM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

You don't have to use every wire on the grey harness. Not sure why your box uses a different wire. Perhaps Audi ran out that colour on that day.

The wiring colour is different between the A8 and A4 model even the engine code is the same. Here is the collect diagram. You did not mention the S4 when I asked, just gave me the engine code of CGXC.

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Richard is there a way to confirm that pin 3 on the t94 ecu harness is 12v crank power? I did the quick start test today and have no power to the gauge? I did not have time to go back and test with multimeter yet. I will test connection to the battery and eventually the connection with pin 3 but just want to get some thoughts for troubleshooting ahead of time. Probably won't get back at it till this weekend infortunately. Only reference I can find in the wiring diagrams for cgx engines is attached. Tia

Hey Richard,

I got the wiring to the controller sorted out, everything listed in your wiring diagram (pin numbers) is correct and supplies power where needed, even though a couple wires are different colors on the a8 diagram originally provided. <edited>
I currently have an order with you in processing for the 6 port DI kit is there a way to add (6 to 10 feet) 4mm hose to the order before it ships? Also will that be shipping next week hopefully? I have vacation time at the end of August and really would like to finish the install. Than you again so much for any help you can provide. ]

So ignore the above lol, worked it out... was a loose connection at the controller. My trunk harness clip is semi loose at the controller so I electrical taped it so it doesnt move as much.Still would like to know if that order will be going out soon and also if you have any right angle adapters for the pump?

You need to post a message on your order at the shop. Not here. I don't deal with the site shop.

Hey Richard,
Received everything in record time and thank you very much for making sure the additional items were added to the order. You guys are truly awesome and go above and beyond with customer service which is so rare these days! I had a question regarding the 15psi inline checkvalve that comes with the 6 port hex manifold kit, I would like to know the ideal placement of the checkvalve, as in, in between the manifold and fav? Or somewhere else down the line? I would also like to convert the blocked end of the manifold to a 7th jet, I'm checking with howerton if they have the necessary parts in stock but checking with you what size pieces would I need to accomplish that if they don't have them? Looking for a 4mm outlet I'm assuming unless it's possible to run a 6mm outlet because I have an extra 6mm one. Thank you again for all your help on this project. Can't wait to finally get everything completed and up and running this week!

The CV is for the fifth jet. Install it as close to the jet as possible.

Interested to know why the 5th and not the 6th or 7th Hey? TIA

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

For a 4-cylinder engine setup, it will have to be the 5th.
You can put a Tee or two after the CV and run the 6th or 7th jet.

Jroyalty7 26-08-2017 03:43 PM

Re: Want to install custom meth plate

Hey Richard thank you again for that reply but my engine is a 6 cylinder. Also I ended up not being able to run the meth plates since the manufacturer ran into supply issues and could not produce the product on time. So I will only be running a single jet into a TB spacer. I think I will look into getting a jet from howerton with built in checkvalve to run there and unfortunately will have to sell or return the direct injection kit, extremely disappointed by that development. If howerton doesn't have the jets with the check valve I will order from you guys again.
