Ive recently stepped up the water/meth mixed at 50/50 by mass to around 25% to fuel flow on my RB30 SOHC. Im spraying 1200cc/min and my 875cc injectors are at 91% which I think is about 4750cc of fuel. Since Ive upped the water/meth I've been able to give it a few more degrees ( from 10 at max rpm/boost to 15 ) without knock.
Since I have been spraying more water/methanol Ive noticed that the plugs look leaner, ( white-ish base ring ). Especially no6 which is renound for getting more air which in my thinking its getting more water/meth than the rest. Is this normal or do I just need more main fuel? Cheers |

With water injection you can run lean as long as knock is present or spark is healthy.
Can you check the other spark plugs to confirm each cylinder is behaving the same. Do you have a WBO2 sensor installed?

I dont have a a/f gauge hooked up, I pulled the rest of the plugs and no6 is the leanest although the rest are leaner than what I'm used to. Will a lot of water/meth turn a plug whiter? Cheers

Yes, running a lot of water/meth keeps plugs cleaned...

I am glad someone chimed in, I am not up to speed with spark plug colours. Good to know they are all about the same.

Im hoping its just the water/methanol thats cleaning it. Currently at 1320cc/min of water/meth (50/50 by mass). Im thinking I'm injecting around 4350cc of fuel ( aussie 98 ). So Im guessing its a 30% to fuel flow by volume not mass. Any richer than this setting and it just lays flat at 6500rpm and stops pulling. When it is leaner it pulls hard to 7000rpm. This is the leanest plug. Sorry for the crap photos. Cheers

With the amount of water/meth you are spraying you need to get an O2 WB and target around 12.5:1 AFR at WOT. As you add more water/meth, you need to remove the corresponding fuel of the fuel map. Just reading spark plugs is not enough from my experience.
